About the Office: I work in the Treasurer's Office. Diane Tremmel assists me as time permits. She started here in July, 2009 and has many years of experience in title work. Our digitized mapping is complete. We have had parcel data on the internet since June, 2005. Wood County doesn't have a land information office, so we provide that. We assist in tax collection as necessary and do inspections and assessments of tax deeded properties.
About the City/ County: Like most Wisconsin counties, the first industries were lumber and shingle mills. Following that, dairy farming grew in central and northern Wood County. Paper mills were built at 4 sites along the Wisconsin River in the Southeastern part of the county. At about the same time, cranberry growing began in the bogs of in the Southern part of the county. These industries are still a substantial part of our economy.
