About the Office: We have myself and the cartographer and an administrative secretary. Our maps are all in a digital format. Next year we are going to change to Arc coverage. We are in the process of scanning the surveys. We moved from under the direction of the Planning and Development office to Register of Deeds office in 2004.

The Property Listing department reports to the Register of Deeds. Specific duties of this office include mapping (digital), maintaining tax rolls, scanning surveys, etc. Staff consists of the four following positions (See picture above - click to enlarge):

About the City/ County: Racine County continues to be the home of new technology. Karen Johnson Productions, is a leader in computer graphics and animation for films, games, arena scoreboards, etc. The firm is not only headquartered in Racine, but plans to start a school for computer animators.

Many Racine County businesses started here and expanded all over the globe. That is now a two-way street, as foreign-based companies have established plants and offices here. In addition to Nestle, these include Putzmeister, Alloc Flooring, Lavelle Industries, Saint Gobain Containers and Bombardier. Racine County may sit firmly in America's heartland, but it touches every part of the globe.
