About the Office: The Land Information Office in Kewaunee County includes Real Property Listing, Land Records, and GIS. Up until the end of 2006 Real Property Listing was part of the County Treasurer's office, Land Records was part of the Register of Deeds office, and the GIS Coordinator (my old position) was in the Land & Water Conservation Department. I have one full-time assistant in the Land Information Office, and we also still work closely with the County Treasurer's office - especially when it comes to printing out property tax bills. I put together a basic web-site for our office that can be seen at www.kewauneeco.org/lio. This web-site contains links to both our Property Tax Records and also our ArcIMS (GIS Mapping) site.
About the City/ County: Kewaunee County has two cities, two villages, and 10 townships. Kewaunee County is located along the Lake Michigan shoreline so some of the property values are pretty high. Kewaunee County has 1,300 acres of public land for hunting and fishing, four county parks, five inland lakes with public access, and about 330 dairy farms with an estimated 27,000 dairy cows. There are an additional 200 farm, garden, and/or orchard operations which raise beef cattle, veal, sheep, cash crops, vegetables, and fruits. For winter activities Kewaunee County has approximately 150 miles of snowmobile trails as well as a new county-owned snow tubing slope complete with six runs and snowmaking equipment. A downhill ski area is also being developed. Kewaunee County has two fine golf courses - the Alaskan Golf Course and Northbrook Country Club. There are numerous hiking, bicycling, and riding trails in Kewaunee County along with a public ATV park and trail system. There are also two beautiful marinas - one in the City of Algoma and one in the City of Kewaunee. Kewaunee County is about a half-hour drive from Green Bay, Sturgeon Bay, and Manitowoc.
