The County has two state parks within its borders. Wyalusing and Nelson Dewey. The North boundary of Grant County is the Wisconsin River. The West boundary is the Mississippi River. Lead strikes attracted the first settlers as early as 1825. When mining began to decline, the settlers discovered there was wealth in the rich virgin soil and turned to farming.
