About the Office: I have been in this position since October 2002. I was looking for a job that would keep me busy and yet be a challenge. This position definitely has done that. To this day, I have notI'm the only property lister for Douglas County. My office is located in the Treasurer's Office. Here is a brief list of my duties and responsibilities: maintaining property ownership, legal descriptions, property and mailing addresses, assessments, parcel maps, tax rates, assessment and tax rolls, parcel splits, assigning parcel numbers and so on. This county consists of 16 townships, 5 villages and one city. Douglas County has just converted from an AS400 system to a windows based program. This will allow us to keep all records and data digitally for easy transfer of files to customers, easy storage capabilities and so much more. Towards the end of 2005, we hope to have our tax information on the Internet. Currently, our mapping is done in ArcView but is slowly merging over to ArcMap.
