| About
the office: The Sheboygan County Real Property Listing Office is located on
the third floor of the Administration Building in Room 319 and is
currently organized within the Sheboygan County Planning And
Resources Department. Our staff, in addition to myself, consists of
three full-time
positions [Land Technician I, Land Technician III, and a GIS Mapping
Technician] that contribute to the responsibilities and
maintenance of accurate records in our office. Property
ownership, legal descriptions, mailing addresses,
assessments, parcel maps, tax rates, tax rolls, and tax
billing for all parcels of land in Sheboygan County are
processed here. (With the exception of the City of
Sheboygan, which maintains information for parcels within
its city limits.)
Annually our office handles approximately 25,000 documents.
2003 was a very busy year for land divisions. A total of 92
certified survey maps (up 17% from 76 in 2002), and 10
subdivision/condominium plats (up 70% from 3 in 2002) were reviewed.
The CSM’s contained a total of 151 new lots encompassing 1458 acres
and the 10 plats created 347 new lots which included 233 acres of
land.
In 2003 Sheboygan County Real Property Listing processed 40 new
subdivisions and condominium plats in the cities and villages alone,
setting an all-time record. A total of 109 CSM’s were processed (up
15% from 93 in 2002). Overall 292 splits, creating 425 new parcels
in towns, 156 in villages, and 116 in Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth
combined, accounted for a total of 697 parcels for that year.
Our parcel mapping is in digital format with all parcels COGO’d
into the ArcInfo GIS system. We maintain our data utilizing an EGTS
system of entry. A web-based information system located at
http://www.co.sheboygan.wi.us allows access to our
databases [inclusive of owners name, parcel id number, survey maps,
tax parcel maps, and aerial photographs]. This land information
option is additionally offered to subscribers on an annual based fee
and renewal system. |
| About Sheboygan county: Sheboygan County is located in Eastern Wisconsin on the western
shores of Lake Michigan. It consists of 15 Townships, 10 villages
and 3 cities [Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth]. The
county is surrounded by five other counties: Manitowoc County to the
north, Calumet County to the northwest, Fond du Lac County to the
west, Washington County to the southwest, and Ozaukee County to the
south. The municipalities of Sheboygan, Kohler, and Sheboygan Falls
are more urbanized in comparison to the western part of our county
in which many areas remain undeveloped. A balance of recreational, cultural, community, and agricultural
activities lend to Sheboygan County’s uniqueness in Southeastern
Wisconsin. |
