| About
Janet:
I was hired in 1980 as an Address-o-graph Operator. Since
then I have been named Tax Lister, Mapper, but I call myself
the Real Property Lister. |
About
the office: The Price County Real Property Listing
Department is a division of the Register of Deeds Office,
with the Register of Deeds as the supervisor. There is one
full time position within the Real Property Listing
Department, and is a member of the Land Information
Committee.
Responsibilities include performing all duties set forth in
Chapter 70.09 of the WI Statues, along with updating work
rolls, printing all of the State mandated reports;
assessment rolls, tax rolls, tax bills, company tax
receipts, etc. We also enter mill rate data from the
municipal clerks and help them when needed. We have public
access terminals for the private and public sectors to use.
Searches can be done by: last name, property address,
computer number, and by legal description. Everything that
is in the assessment and tax data base can be accessed and
printed out on hard copy if needed. Price County is testing
a website that has all this data plus all parcels maps and
air photos, along with zoning data and anything that other
departments would like to make available. We provide lists,
descriptions and maps when requested. Also, we print all
personal property reports relating to the assessment and
taxation process. We notify the Zoning Department of all
land divisions and the DNR for ownership changes in the
Managed Forest Land Programs and land conservation for
ownership changes in the farm land preservation program. All
old work rolls are microfilmed and put into microfiche form
for archive purposes.
Price County has been completely parcel mapped since the mid
90's. The County chose not to establish all corners so we
digitized the base map from USGS Quadrangle maps. From this
base map we COGO in all survey data filed and recorded in
the county. The Land Information Committee is using grant
monies to remonument corners using GPS and the County
Coordinate System. This information is also put into the
base map. I incorporate the parcel maps in my work rolls and
also have a separate book for purchases by the public. The
parcels maps are kept up by the Real Property Lister. Price
County produces a county plat book in-house which is also a
duty of the Lister. |
