The Property Lister in
Pepin County is part of the County Treasurer job. The work is done in
the Treasurer’s Office by the Treasurer and the Deputy Treasurer. I
was elected in 1992 and took office January 1, 1993. To my knowledge
the Treasurer’s Office has always done the property listing. The
current deputy treasurer has been working in the office part time for
21 years.
We review all recorded documents for taxation and assessment from the
Register of Deeds Office. We make all legal description changes and
draw properties out. Make split, create new parcels, parcel numbers
and address changes. We generate assessment roll, increase notices,
tax rolls, tax bills and other duties under statue.
The office consist of me and two Deputy Treasurer for a total of 4 ½
days a week. I have one Deputy that works 4 days a week and the other
work during tax collection and as a fill in as needed.
We average 500 transfers a year. Within those transfers we do about
100 splits, 10 Certified Survey’s and 6 subdivisions.
Pepin County has 237 square miles of land. There are 8 Townships, 2
Villages and 1 City. Population: 7,200. The aggregated assessed
valuation of the County is $351,401,600. We have approximately 9,000
Real Estate and Personal Property parcels. Pepin County is rural.
Pepin County is actively working on parcel index mapping the ACH-VIEW
and ARC-IMS Website Server. The County is 80% done and plans to be
