Wisconsin Real Property Listers Association
City of Milwaukee - DISTRICT #5
The
duties of Property Records consist of writing and maintaining the tax
roll descriptions for all parcels within the city, making all
combinations and splits, drawing new and updating old tax key number
maps, assigning new or altering old key numbers and other duties as
assigned. We
have a state of the art computer system.
Our mapping system was put in by the City Engineer.
The city utilizes the Intergraph Platform.
Our office is charged with the responsibility of adding
property assessment levels to this system, such as addresses and tax
key numbers. We currently
work with MicroStation 95 with NT 4.0. Our
office does the mapping for only the City of Milwaukee.
The Property Records section within the Milwaukee County
Register of Deeds Department performs mapping for the remainder of the
county. We maintain about
9,600 to 10,000 tax maps. These
maps for the most part cover one city block with a block index for
each ¼ section. We
create our own maps and they are in digital format. The City of Milwaukee has 96 square miles with a 1990 population of approximately 600,000. The city maintains about 160,000 real property tax parcels or about 180,000 parcels if you include personal property. |
